Friday........goodbye to January 2014

TODAY: The Essential Oil (EO)...just a little bit

Essential oils (EO) are the natural aromatic compound extracted from a plant (including the seed, root, stems, leaf, bark, flower, fruit). It is called essential because it is derived from the essence of a plant. EO's are usually extracted by distillation (often steam) this process will also produce what is called "hydrosols" (also used in room and body misting spray and many other products), other processes include expression or solvent extraction (solvent extraction leaves an EO called "concrete" or "absolute"). Before extraction, while in the plant, EO's serve as protection to the plant against disease and play a role in plants pollination. Once extracted, they are used in everything from aromatherapies to perfumes and cosmetics,  flavoring our foods and drinks, in everyday household cleaning products and the list goes on and on.

Essential Oils are the first human medicines. For centuries EO's have been used for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Ancient Egyptians used EO's for embalming and the Bible references EO's (such as frankincense, myrrh and several others).  With todays growing natural approach to healing and wellness,  a revival of these other uses has been growing, too. Interest in EO's has grown in recent decades and the popularity of aromatherapy and the belief that the use of EO's can help cure ailments is gaining ground. Scientist, researchers, physicians and many of us ordinary people concerned with our health are beginning to study and discover the amazing benefits of essential oils. I will explore them, too. In the future I will discuss in more detail the many essential oils and their many uses and multitude of benefits.

Have a GREAT Friday evening........see you tomorrow

Thursday...... beautiful Thursday

TODAY:  A few words of encouragement; positive affirmations

Experience all of life with the open eyed excitement of a child. As if it were the first time. The Zen mind is always New, always in the Now, always that of the beginning....

We are what we think and dream ourselves to be. If we can see it Today, then we can become it Tomorrow. Your thoughts are the only thing that can really ever help you or hurt you, make all your thoughts good.........

Through your acts of kindness the world is a beautiful place. Make sure you are kind to all, it is the Natural state of beauty........

Live life simply. Always be a person of integrity. Be compassionate......... this is the way of Zen..........

Life is filled with ups and downs, it is what you make of those experiences that is important. This is the true meaning of Life..........

make it a beautiful day.

GINA GINA Wednesday, overcast and gorgeous

TODAY: Sole (So-lay), Ole!

I've been talking all week about ph balancing the body, and the importance of it when it comes to our health. Another way to get alkaline is by taking Sole, once a day, everyday.

What is Sole:
Sole is a mixture of water and crystal salt (I use Himalayan Salt and Spring Water or a good Artesian Water. Himalayan Crystal Salt is the purest salt on Earth, it is over 250 million years old and is absolutely uncontaminated, without any toxins or pollutants)

The Salt Misunderstanding:
Salt is NOT bad for us. As a matter of fact, we cannot live without salt. The human body consists of primarily 2 elements......water and salt...... HOWEVER, regular table salt is a problem, it has been fired at 1500 degrees, chemically cleaned and processed, and left without the trace minerals and elements that naturally occur in UNREFINED salt, leaving us with inorganic salt, that our bodies will not digest, it is like poison to our bodies.
Unrefined salt (like Himalayan Salt) is unprocessed and is just like the sodium that occurs naturally in the body, with 84 natural elements and minerals....... it is essential to our daily lives and definitely good for us.

The benefits of Sole:
Sole is wonderful, I take it everyday. It helps to balance the body's pH and get rid of heavy metals. It is rich in vital minerals, improves digestion and cleans your intestines. Sole has a calming effect on the entire nervous system and can improve your quality of sleep, it helps in the extraction of excess acidity from the cells in the body, particularly the brain cells. It has Chromium, Zinc and Iodine, which will help to give you a more beautiful, clear skin and help heal skin disease by cleaning from the inside out.. It will help normalize the blood pressure and balance your blood sugar levels. Sole acts as a natural antihistamine, clearing up congestion in your sinuses and can aid in weight loss, too. It can prevent muscle cramps, varicose veins and is vital for maintaining your libido.

So in close:
Understand your body and the importance of keeping it alkaline. Adding a teaspoon of Sole first thing in the morning, before you eat or drink anything, will help alkaline you and keep you healthy and disease free.*

To Make Himalayan Salt Sole:
In a glass jar (with NO metal rim or lid, metal de-ionizes the salt) place Himalayan Salt (chunks or grain) and fill with a good spring water. Let sit for 24 hours (to insure optimal saturation level, there should always be salt in the bottom of the jar, if it is all dissolved, add more salt). Your Sole is now ready....... take one (1) teaspoon on an empty stomach, daily (mix with water, if you need to, and drink), you will soon notice the beneficial changes.

Have a wonderful evening........ remember the thoughts we think and the words we speak, are the energies we live in......... have only good thoughts and speak only kind words.

GINA GINA Happy Tuesday to you!!!

TODAY: Chip, Chip, Chip away......

If you're anything like me, your list of "To Do" things seems to grow by the second. Every time you knock something off the list, it has grown by another 5 items. I've resolved myself to say "That's Okay, life is full of "to do's" anyway". I would then begin my "Chunk, Chunk, Chunking" at the list and would get several items chunked off, only to find myself having to go back and chip those chunks up later.

The moral of this is............ instead of "chunk, chunk, chunking"..........."chip, chip, chip", slow and steady, instead of trying to tackle the entire list, begin with one item and work your way through it. Don't try and finish everything all in one day or even a weekend (it won't happen). Give yourself a break and spread it out over a comfortable amount of time. Life is here for us to live. Don't stress, no worries, relax, and if you can, use the "chip, chip, chip" approach. You'll see that in no time at all, you'll have chipped your way through what seemed like a mountainous list, without having to go back, not even once, to redo anything.

Maintaining your "To Do" list is almost as important as maintaining your finances. The amount of strain we put on ourselves, talking or thinking about all the things we need to do, could drive anyone insane. Try not to allow the list to grow so big it seems unconquerable, but if it does get there (which is where I've found myself many times) "don't fret", start with the most important items and chip, chip, chip away. Before you know it, you'll find that keeping the list "in check" and doing the "to do's" is not only easy, but can also be rewarding and fun.

The only moment we're guaranteed is this one, make it great.......
all my best,

GINA GINA Sunday....... hope you had a great weekend

Good Monday Morning........ the beginning of the week, and the rest of your life

Today: Energy Green Drinks

I've always tried to live a pretty healthy lifestyle (but, no one is perfect, especially me:)), so I, also, try to incorporate other things that will help me to maintain a ph balanced body. The other day I wrote of several ways to do this (i.e.. take a walk, deep breathing, incorporate cinnamon in your food, drink lemon water....). but, I also drink a good quality "energy green" drink, daily (and because I am a breast cancer survivor (4 years in February:), I make sure to use one without "soy", ***also, if you have any health conditions, make sure you tell your physician what it is you'd like to incorporate, you DO NOT want to have any adverse reactions).

Just one tablespoon of the all natural "energy green"powder, mixed in water (or juice or made as a smoothy) is equal to eating 5 servings of vegetables and fruits a day. The one I use is a very potent, immune enhancing and energizing "green drink", that helps to alkaline my body (*remember an alkaline body, is a balanced body and a balanced body is a healthy body and we should all be working towards this),  it is packed with vitamins and more protein than "steak and eggs" (without all the fat, calories and carbohydrates) . A good energy green drink can help to boost your energy, increase mental clarity, rejuvenate skin and get clearer, brighter eyes, it can help to regulate blood sugar and protect the heart, even stave off hunger and help to lose weigh and lower your cholesterol..

In close, find yourself a good energy drink at your local whole food store and add it to your daily routine. I'm sure in no time at all, you'll begin to notice the difference that "one little tablespoon" can make. It's so easy and has such great benefits....

Make it a "ph balanced day" today (and everyday).......

all my best,

GINA GINA TGIF (although everyday we wake up is a good day:))

Today: one easy tip towards an Alkaline body

I've heard that you can increase your energy,  keep off extra pounds, slow down the aging process, sleep better and even lower your risk for disease, such as arthritis and cancer........... How? .......... By keeping your body "alkaline"............ so much of the food and beverages we consume are highly acidic, from artificial sweeteners, to coffee, to processed foods and the list goes on and on.

If we want to take control and get more alkaline, there are many ways to do it: get more veggies into your diet, add spices like cinnamon (which is wonderful alkalizing spice) or ginger, lay off the desserts and sodas (as a matter of fact lay off the sugar laden foods), eat unsalted almonds, try going meat free for just a day (there is acid residue left behind during the metabolism of meat), take a walk, get outside and breath some fresh air. These are all good ways and there are dozens of others but the ONE I want to talk about today is adding "Fresh Lemons" to your daily diet.

Lemons..... it sounds like it would be an acidic food, and on their own they are, but inside the body, when they metabolized, they are alkaline. Lemon water can do many things to improve ones health. Start your day with a large glass of water (warm preferably) and add to it a 1/2 freshly squeezed lemon. It's incredibly simple and the benefits are simply amazing. Lemon water not only works to PH balance (alkaline) your body, but it will boost you immune system, they are high in Vitamin C and potassium (Vitamin C for fighting off colds, clearer skin, decrease wrinkles and blemishes and potassium helps control blood pressure and stimulate brain and nerve function). Lemons are not only high in vitamins, but minerals, too and aid in digestion and purging toxins from the body. Drinking lemon water can also help with weight loss, lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps to fight off hunger cravings and a more alkaline diet can help you to lose weight faster.

So if you don't do anything else, drink a glass of "fresh lemon water" daily.......... your body will become more ALKALINE, along with ALL the other benefits I mentioned.

Have a great Friday Night!!!

GINA GINA Thursday, January 23, 2014

Today: Our "VERY IMPORTANT" Skin

Did you know the largest organ of our body is our "Skin".  It protects us against pathogens, regulates our body temperature between hot and cold, protects our inner organs. Our skin is waterproof, so essential nutrients are not washed out, and is a natural pathway for Vitamin D, it detoxifies the body thru perspiration and protects against viruses and bacterias. Our skin has been called "the third kidney" because it is so important to eliminating waste and toxins from our bodies.

Skin is a "living organism"........so we need to nourish it. One square inch of human skin consists of 19,500,000 cells, 60,000 melanocytes (pigment), 90 oil glands, 19 feet of blood vessels, 650 sweat glands,  more than 1,000 nerve endings and19,000 sensory cells(*). Our skin is a magnificent organ that needs to be attended to. So now maybe you'll agree that it is NOT superficial to care so much about what our skin looks like. Treat your skin good, use ingredients like "all natural botanicals" and if scented, make sure it is scented with pure essential oils.  Read labels and choose good products that will address the real health of you and your skin.

From the beginning of the day, to the end of the evening, incorporate skin products that will nourish your skin on a cellular level. Make sure the products you choose are skin-permeable and can deliver its nutrients deep into the dermis (not all products do!!!). Make sure the products you choose will help you achieve the best results. The absorption rate of any product you use depends on the "molecule size" and its "solubility" (know your product, or, buy from reputable mixologists or aromatherapists....I carry in my boutique "Madlyn Rose" and "Malie" they're awesome)

Dry Brushing your skin is a great way to detoxify (daily). Dry Brushing (DB) helps clean the lymph system (considered part of our immune system, detoxification occurs first through the lymph, we have more lymph than we do blood). DB helps us to shed dead skin cells, improving skin texture and cell renewal. It strengthens the immune system by stimulating the lymph vessels to drain toxins. DB  tightens skin by increasing blood flow, tones muscles by stimulating nerve endings, causing muscle fibers to activate and move. It helps stimulate circulation by allowing our skin to breath (ridding it of dead skin cells).

Our Skin needs to be cleaned, balanced and given lots of nutrition, daily........... don't skimp on the products you put onto your skin.  Remember, our skin is the "last" to receive the nutrients we ingest, however, it is the "first" to show an imbalance or deficiency.

In close, healthy skin will contribute to your overall  body health, so treat it good:)

GINA GINA Good Wednesday Morning!!!! It's beautiful here in Las Vegas, hope it's beautiful wherever you're at, too.

Today: "Just let it go"

I know most of us would like to live everyday in a positive way.......... and I believe we can. Every morning, when I wake up, every night, when I go to bed and several times during the day, I take a few minutes (or even seconds) for positive affirmation. This doesn't mean I will never be bothered by anything, or never get upset, but when times are trying or difficult, being able to take a deep breath and remember I am the maker of my own space, the thoughts I think, the words I say, will be the energy that surrounds me and that I'll have to live with, definitely makes it easier to not let those moments get to me..... instead I work hard to "just let it go" and before I know it everything seems to be alright, again.

Last night there was a shooting, right here, barely 50 yards from the front door to my "Positive Living" boutique....... a 26 year old man was shot in a road rage incident and later died at the hospital. He had 2 kids in the back seat when it happened.......... I wonder if the shooter new the kids were there and if he did, did he even care? It's so sad those kids will now have to grow up without a father, and over what???  Things like this happen everyday, everywhere, but they don't have to. This world is big enough for all of us to live in and in a positive way. If someone makes you angry or does something that makes you want to lose you temper, remember "you are your own keeper", don't let them determine the energy field that will surround you. Just let it go, what ever it is...........imagine if the gunman, that got so ticked off at "something???", and ultimately killed a young man, had "JUST LET IT GO", those kids would still have their father and the gunman would not now be a murderer.

So remember the next time life (someone or something) wants to get to you, take the deep breath, give yourself "a second" and "just let it go"............ there is nothing more important than keeping yourself in check........... positive living is right here for you to have.......... everyday.......... all day......... all you have to do is make it so.

Have an awesome day, do something kind for a stranger (it feels good). Talk with you tomorrow.

GINA GINA Good Morning.......... today I want to talk about Himalayan Salt. The Himalayan Mountains were formed millions of years ago, when the present day subcontinents of India and Eurasia collided. Salt crystals from the oceans remained trapped deep within the mountains for centuries, once inaccessible, now tapped in to. Himalayan salt is pure, the purest salt on earth, it is chemical free and contains no impurities from environmental pollution (like sea salt would).  Table salt, that so many people use, has been fired at over 1500 degrees, chemically treated and everything that was good in it is now gone, this includes most salts found in processed and packaged food. Himalayan Salt, on the other hand,  contains a high concentration of 84 minerals and trace elements our bodies need to survive and is actually good for us, two main elements in our bodies are water and SALT, so we need salt, just not the bad salt. So next time you go to buy table salt, remember the benefits of Himalayan Salt and give it a try, I've know doubt you'll love it. Have a GREAT day, see you tomorrow.
